Failed attempt: Spanish politics trying to control TVE1

Turbulent times in Spain during 2011. The 15M movement, defy the pillars of current democracy. After a few months of silence by the politic side now we can see their response.

During my holidays in Barcelona, where I spend some quality time at the various hoteles baratos Barcelona I was, something unbelievable was very close to become a reality. During my time there, enjoying the architectural beauty of locations like Sagrada Familia, or Gaudí masterpieces like Parc Güell or Casa Batlló, the most conservative political party was keen to promote a law which allows the goverment to control and censor the contents offered by the public channel, TVE1.

Would be Spain the next Grecce? I would say not, but you never know attending the usual statements made by the political party which is not in the goverment. Apparently the only thing which matter is power. Fearless to the consecuences, the negative messages regarding huge debts, corruption and bad managment are common every day and filtered to the european and world media with the only purpose to debilitate Spain image in front of the markets.

But this is not the purpose of my post today.

Finally the proposal did not pass because the rest of political parties were strongly against. In a european democracy like Spain, how this proposal could be even raised? The future doesn’t look very well if this kind of measures happen.
